The type of personal information we collect

Names and email addresses of Areo contributors; email addresses of subscribers to Areo‘s mailing list.
How we get the personal information and why we have it
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
Your article will be published in Areo and we need the information in order to create an author bio for you, which will appear under your article
You have requested to subscribe to our mailing list
We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:
Email addresses of Patreon and SubscribeStar subscribers. These addresses are used to add patrons to our mailing list, to keep you updated on developments at Areo, invite you to online hangouts and apprise you of patron benefits
We use the information that you have given us in order to create an author bio (for contributors) or to add you to our mailing list (see above).
We may share this information with MailChimp, which we use to send emails to our mailing lists.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful basis we rely on for processing this information is:

How we store your personal information
Your information is securely stored.
We keep email addresses for as long as your article remains on our website or you remain on our mailing list. We will then dispose your information by deleting it from our database.
